LET'S KISS GOODBYE TO MS
My name is Josh Bird, I am 19 and on Monday May 5th, I am aiming to run 270km from Mudgee to Sydney (M2S) in 6 days, to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, a disease my mum has lived with for 33 years. The reason behind my run, to in some way give back to my mum, who has had to put up with such a gruelling disease, along with almost 3 million others worldwide. I’ve watched my mum struggle, not just with mobility, but with her vision and many other issues, where through good times and bad, no matter how much she was struggling, always without hesitation, she would help my brother and I through everything, and trust me, we have been no easy task. So if I can put myself through the biggest physical and mental challenge I will probably ever face, with my aim not only to challenge myself but to give back to my extraordinary mum in a small way, who with this disease, walked Mudgee to Sydney in 2010 with a group of friends also with MS, so I thought if they can walk it, why can’t I run it. My goal is to contribute in a small way by trying to raise some money, a goal of $33,000 for the amount of years my mum has lived with MS, and to hopefully generate as much awareness as possible. I am not a runner, and I am not an athlete by any means, but for the past year I have been training to get myself only somewhat ready for what lies ahead, and I doubt, right up until the moment I start, I will feel completely ready, but with enough support, I know I will be able to get it done. Starting in Mudgee, after 6 days of running, maybe a small amount of walking, and possibly even some crawling, I will finish up at Coogee beach, where I hope to find myself in complete exhaustion, but knowing that I have helped in a small way, all those that suffer from MS, in finding a cure for such a horrible disease.
I will be seeking sponsors and donations from anywhere and everywhere, to reach that goal of $33,000, with any help and support instrumental and greatly appreciated.
With May being MS awareness month, I thought it was a perfect time to do it, so donate, tell your friends and family, and let’s get after it.
